XC Boys and Girls both Regional Champions! On to State!

FR Lindy Jacobson led the Lakeside girls to the team championship with her time of 19:38 to beat all 56 runners while SR Michael Anderson nearly won the boys event, coming in just :01 sec behind the Colville winner in 16:50, as both Lakeside teams dominated the Bi-District Regional meet Saturday, Oct 29th at Plantes Ferry Park in the Spokane Valley.

Lakeside girls blasted the 8 team field from District 7 and District 6 with 26 points as they placed 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 20. Jacobson was followed closely by SR Vanessa Ahrendt (4th 20:30), SO Megan Ahrendt (6th 20:55), JR Sofie Marikis (7th 20:58), JR Mary Daniel (8th 21:07), FR Stefanie Marikis (11th 21:17) and SO Mikayla Presta (20th 21:58).  All 7 Eagles runners were called to the podium as the top twenty individuals were recognized as qualifying for state meet participation.

The top four girls teams, Lakeside (26 points), Riverside (65), Cashmere (66) and Chelan (126), move on to the state meet this Saturday, Nov 5th at Pasco. Colville, Chewelah, Freeman and Omak did not qualify.

The Lakeside girls remain ranked #1 in state in the Week #8 Coaches Poll.

The Lakeside boys, 2010 defending State Champions, placed five in the top twenty out of 75 runners and 11 teams, as Anderson was followed by SO Ryan Coffman (3rd 16:59), SR Jake Widman (5th 17:14), SO newcomer JT Lauderdale (9th 17:36), SO Donovan Dewey (17th 18:05), JR Cody Constant (22nd 18:09.4) and SR Jimmy Spencer (33rd 18:44).

The boys also dominated team scoring with a 36, beating the other qualifying teams of Colville (52), Cashmere (91) and Omak (113).  The boys also remain ranked #1 in state in the Coaches Poll.

The excitement is building for a tremendous state meet this Saturday as both Lakeside Cross Country teams travel to the Tri-Cities to see who are the best teams in the state!
